Welcome to StarClan, young one. I see you have traveled a long way from home. Your name is Ice That Melts Slowly? I see. I am Thunderstar, the founding leader of ThunderClan. You've heard of the Clans, yes? Thunder, River, Wind, Shadow, and Sky? SkyClan's leader was my father, you know. But let's not get into that. I have a story to tell you, and then you can return to your home in the mountains. Get comfortable, little one. This is going to take a while. (This battle never happened, but I will use some actual leaders)
The largest, most deadliest battle was long after I joined StarClan. There are some battles that seemed just as bad, but this was bad because ShadowClan broke the full-moon truce. And even when we sent clouds to cover the moon, their ruthless leader, Ripplestar, did not stop. Even Shadowstar herself is ashamed of her Clan's treachery.
The leader of ThunderClan at that time was Finchstar.
"Let's get going. My paws are going to freeze to the floor." Daisyheart, Finchstar's deputy, mewed, breath billowing out of her mouth like clouds. Lifting his tail up, the ThunderClan leader led his cats into the clearing. WindClan, RiverClan, and SkyClan were already there.
"Hello, Dovestar." Finchstar greeted the WindClan leader. The grey tom nodded, lifting his haunches up and putting them back down to prevent his fur from sticking to the Great Rock.
Reedstar of RiverClan and Hawkstar of SkyClan were sitting as far apart as they could get, because for moons the two Clans had been fighting over SkyClan's side of the river.
"It's not like Ripplestar to be late," Finchstar commented after greeting the two other leaders. His brown fur blended with the night sky, but his amber eyes glowed. The shadows seemed to lengthen. Why does Fourtrees suddenly feel unsafe? (Actual thought from Finchstar in Enter the Clans)
At that moment, the ShadowClan warrior yowl echoed through the trees. Before any cat could move, ShadowClan warriors fell upon them, claws glinting and teeth bared. Ripplestar leaped onto the Great Rock and murmured to Finchstar, "I bet you'd never think I'd do it."
"No, Ripplestar. I'd never have thought you'd be as cowardly as that." Finchstar replied, struggling to keep his voice calm. "Cowardly? I'd hardly call that cowardly. Attacking all four Clans at once!" Ripplestar hissed. "But during a Gathering!" Finchstar snarled. "Call off your cats! This battle is unjust!" "Look at your precious Clans now." Ripplestar murmured, and the ThunderClan leader noticed that many cats were slumped on the ground, ShadowClan warriors patrolling the bodies. Dovestar, Hawkstar, and Reedstar were down below, calling orders to their warriors and apprentices to protect the elders that came to the Gathering. Daisyheart had ordered the ThunderClan patrol into a battle group, but was still waiting for Finchstar to give her orders. "Ripplestar, this is unfair. ShadowClan shall not be allowed at the next Gathering." Finchstar hissed before he sprang at the dark tabby. Clouds covered the moon. The ShadowClan warriors did not even flinch, while the rest of the Clans cowered in fear.
"StarClan is angry!" Yowled Dovestar, but the ShadowClan warriors didn't seem to hear, and continued to attack the helpless elders and young apprentices. Giving one final shove, Finchstar sent the bloodthirsty ShadowClan leader over the tallest edge of the Great Rock. The dark tabby fell to his death at the bottom.
Sometimes it takes a tragedy to teach the simplest of lessons.
